Very disappointing at Nexus today. Lo and behold, as always at events of such nature, girls are totally under represented! I wish I could see more girls, afterall, technology is what really makes the world continue to spin on its axis (in my opinion)...
We need to get more girls involved in being geeky. Get rid of the stigma that geeky is synonymous to an unwanted nerdy old maid. They are 2 VERY different things. Nothing wrong with being geeky. Can enjoy technology, be a geek yet be a girl! NOT mutually exclusive. I love technology, but I love shopping just as much. Proud to say I have my 200 pairs of shoes, my wardrobe full of clothes, but I still have this love for gadgets...
Also noticed even as panelists, women very underrepresented, save for Stomp and Cnet Asia.
Anyway, so I was looking at Chillicraps' blog. I think it's very funny how he superimposed his pau on the Mac's set meal. One thing I do need to learn. Photoshop. I have it on my MacBook but I haven't even unzipped the file. This summer holiday must get started.
Ok I'll pen more when my eyelids are lighter... toodles!

Well, maybe because most gals are not so interested in gadgets and IT stuff.
But How can it BBEEEEE?? Is it inherent in biological make up!!!!??
din know you are 9eeky.. and we shelved this idea once when we did e27 cos there were too few pple to do it, 'cept for raine, gwen and michelle...
that leaves me 5 days... I don't think I have the time. If it is due in a month, I'll be up for it for SURE. Hmmm let me know if more come up. I'm game..

The first draft is due by the end of this month! Leaves us a couple of days... we're not gonna be able to meet this submission date!
hey estee! hahaha! i am sorry! Maybe you girls are too last minute - we closed registration about a week before! anyway, will tty to improve, maybe we will have a pink newsletter for the next nexus
Meow: That's a real pity! I've got a lot of good ideas. Need people who dare! :(
I think it doesn't matter. We're essentially the same anyway- geeks. Male female...doesn't matter lah.
And I agree with Meow! Pink flyers help! Add glitter if the budget allows!
:) 9eeks rule the worls... 9irl 9eeks rule the male 9eeks :)
came here via the e27 blog. i was at nexus too and after having attended many such events in the past, i'm amazed at the lack of female presence. if you're interested in getting some girly geekiness going in singapore, drop me a line at sherene [dot] jose [at] gmail [dot] com :)
why female geeks rule male geeks..... basic law of supply and demand... >.<
I liked your blog. I'm nearly 40, an IT student, into gaming and web design and I love my gadgets. On the other hand, I like girlie lunches and chocolate. But I think I'd give up the lunches before my XBox 360! (maybe not the chocolate though)
hey geek babes out there,
we should totally have a gathering! and get something similar started..
i'm seeing that there is really a pool of tech babes out there~ we shld have a platform to get together~
Absolutely! Hey I have internet retail startup idea. Any one interested?
I'm not much for gadgets, but design and web programming is definitely my thing. (And half my bread and butter!) I'm out of SG at the mo, but will be building a couple shopping sites for friends when I'm back. I'm a bit miffed I missed the Nexus event by a week!
Scz: i lot of people doing internet retail now? I have a novel business concept, not sure if it'll fly. If I can get enough people psyched up about making it work, I'm willing to put $$ down, I will think about it and bounce it off some friends.. :)
yeah i agree. nexus was totally male dominated. we should have women 2.0.
hey praise,
we shld talk discuss this further! let's do it! estee, let's meet up and hear it out?
